What is Coin Peek?
Coin Peek is a free Windows and Mac desktop widget for checking your coins without switching windows. It works the same way as its stock sibling, Stock Peek.
A free, open-source Windows and Mac widget that shows Binance, Upbit and bitbank coin prices, a 90-day trend and profit and loss when you move the mouse to the left or right screen edge.
Features
- The panel slides in when the mouse reaches the screen edge and hides when you move away.
- Search Binance’s USDT market by ticker, bitbank’s JPY market by ticker or Japanese name, and Upbit’s KRW market by English or Korean name or ticker. Binance and bitbank results are ranked by trading volume.
- Enter an amount (up to eight decimals) and an average price to see profit and loss.
- Small-cap coins show four significant digits (for example $0.00000485).
- A small chart shows the last 90 days of daily closes.
- Put the panel on the left or right edge of any monitor.
- Lives in the system tray (menu bar on Mac) and can start with your computer.
Install and use
- Download: Download the latest installer from this site or GitHub Releases:
.exefor Windows,.dmgfor Mac. - Add coins: Press +, choose Binance, Upbit or bitbank, and search by name or ticker. Optionally enter your amount and average price.
- Check at the edge: Move the mouse to the screen edge to open the panel. Move away and it hides.
The app is not code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”. On Mac it is not notarized; if the first launch is blocked, click “Open Anyway” in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Price sources and refresh
Prices come directly from the public market data APIs of Binance, Upbit and bitbank. No API key or exchange account is used. Crypto trades around the clock, so prices refresh every 3 seconds, with one request per exchange for all your coins.
The change figure differs by exchange: Binance and bitbank measure against 24 hours ago, Upbit against the previous close (00:00 KST). All charts show the last 90 days of daily closes.
Privacy and local storage
It never logs in to an exchange or places orders. Your watchlist, amounts, average prices, language and panel position are stored on your computer. Details are on the privacy page.
